We’re heading back to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (da UP, eh!) for the Magnum Opus Rally on June 19-20th, 2015 in Newberry! We haven’t run this event since 2012 and that was tough one for us. We had a mechanical brake failure early in the event and lost a lot of time. We stuck it out and managed to finish (and learn how to drive a car on flat out stages with no brakes) but our times were riddled with penalties from trying to repair the car. To make things worse, our trailer had 2 flats on the way back home and we ended up driving the car most of the way back to Minneapolis.
So its time for some redemption! This year the event is 2 days long, has detailed stage notes and features some new special stages. The event sanctioning body changed to NASA Rally Sport a few years ago so this will be our first event with them. The roads at Magnum Opus tend to be fast and flowing but the more technical and sandy stages that were just added should shake things up a bit. We’re looking forward to a new challenge, meeting some new people, and running with the new DBC Golf Rally Car!
